How to Add Permissions

You can view and manage user data – like an order made on a user's site – by subscribing to webhooks or calling our APIs. To access this data, users must give you permission to do so.

The permissions you select in the Wix Developers Center will dictate which type of authorization site owners will provide and which data you can access. Site owners will see a list of the permissions you've requested during the installation flow.

Add permissions

You need to add a permission for each type of data you want to access. Here's how:
  1. Go to your app's page in the Wix Developers Center.
  2. Click Permissions in the side menu (under Build Your App).
  3. Click + Add Permissions. 
  4. Choose the relevant category for the permission, and then select the permission scope.
  5. Some high-level Permissions, like Read Stores, include multiple associated Permissions e.g., Read Product and Read Orders. This means you only need to add the Read Stores Permission.
  6. Click Save.
When a new user installs your app, they'll be asked to grant your app permission for each permission you've added.
Adding webhooks?
Required permissions are automatically added when you add a webhook to your app.
Important:
Never ask for more permissions than you need. Determine the scope of your app permissions thoroughly before requesting them. If you intend to add new functionality in the future that requires additional permissions, let us know.

How a user grants consent for permissions

When a user installs your app they'll be shown all the permissions your app requires and will need agree to them before proceeding.

Available permissions
